This press release from The Vilas County Forestry Dept.:THE STATE FUNDED SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM IN VILAS COUNTY WILL OFFICIALLY OPEN AT 1 P.M. ON FRIDAY 10 DECEMBER 2010. The use of caution is strongly recommended. Trails are in early season condition and riders may encounter rough areas and icy patches. More snow is needed to enable area snowmobile clubs to provide the well groomed world class trails Vilas County is noted for. It is not recommended to cross area lakes until the route across the lake is clearly marked. For more information on trail conditions, please contact the area chambers and local snowmobile clubs in the area you plan to ride.
